Analysis of Poetry: Day One of English 20

Who is the speaker? The speaker can be a voice of meditating a theme or it can be a specific person.

What is the subject? Typically, one word. There should be a clear difference from the theme.

What is the mood? The mood is the reader’s emotional response to the piece of literature (poetry).

What is tone? The tone is the attitude the author takes towards the subject or character.

What is imagery? Imagery is language that evokes the five senses; sign, sound, taste, smell, touch
